Spring Update
It seems like forever since I’ve written anything though it’s only been a couple of months. It was a good idea to get a jump on Spring cleaning – shortly after that was done we decided to put the house up for sale which prompted another round of cleaning plus painting and minor repairs. I’ve never agreed with the Mrs. about the wallpaper in our kitchen. I thought it looked hideous and it was certainly dated. The painter talked us into texturing over the kitchen walls and putting on a faux finish. So between the kitchen makeover (which looks wonderful), the new paint and carpet plus a general lack of clutter we find ourselves content with our surroundings again. Guess we’ll hold out for top dollar on the sale but won’t be too upset if there are no takers.
Mrs. Sixfootzero’s dad is ill and will be going into the hospital next week for a triple bypass on his heart. He’s strong as a bull for his age and we’re praying that he comes through the surgery and recovery period without incident. But it is weighing on the Mrs. heavily. Along with everything else that’s happened over the past several months this has really knocked the wind out of our sails. I know it’s temporary, but it still casts a pall over everything. Some days it’s all I can do to get out of bed and face the day.
On a brighter note, Bailey continues to amaze me. This year she has been accepted into the National Honor Society, the Société Honoraire de Français, and Mu Alpha Theta. She has truly exceeded my ability to help her with any homework! Plus she’s driving the truck by herself – a mixed blessing which will surely contribute to more gray hair.
